What to expect

When you first get in touch  I will offer an initial phone call to talk through what you'd like to get out of therapy or from an assessment. This also allows us to figure out if I am the best person to offer you support. From this stage we can either book in an initial appointment or I can signpost you to alternative sources of support, which may be better suited to your needs.

I aim to be flexible with appointments and will always take your preferences for days, times and means of working (i.e. in person or online) into account when arranging sessions. For therapy, these will typically last for 55 minutes but occasionally I may recommend extended sessions, particularly when conducting EMDR. Weekly sessions are often most helpful at least in the initial phase of therapy, however I am open to discussing fortnightly or less regular sessions if needed.

During sessions I aim to create a warm, safe environment for you to feel comfortable to talk through your challenges, to allow me to understand what is troubling you. We will explore your goals for therapy, taking into account your resources, resilience and values. Together we will create a plan for therapy which will best help you to reach your goals. I am open to feedback along the way and am flexible in adapting my approach to best suit your needs.
